Connecting the Next Generation: ADAQ’s Growing Presence Across Queensland Universities
As ADAQ continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting future members of the profession, 2026 has seen a renewed focus on meaningful, early engagement with dental students across Queensland. From first-year orientation through to final-year preparation, ADAQ has been proud to connect with students at The University of Queensland (UQ), Griffith University (GU), and James Cook University (JCU) through a series of on-campus events designed to inform, support, and inspire.
These touchpoints have not only introduced students to the Association but have also created valuable opportunities for connection at every stage of the university journey.

Building Connections from Day One
At the beginning of the academic year, ADAQ welcomed new cohorts at UQ Orientation and JCU Market Day, meeting students as they took their first steps into dentistry. These early interactions play an important role in establishing awareness of ADAQ’s purpose, ensuring students understand that professional support is available to them from the very start of their careers.
At Griffith University, ADAQ’s involvement in the ever-popular Amazing Race offered a more informal and engaging way to connect with students. Events like these provide a unique opportunity to build familiarity and trust, allowing students to interact with ADAQ in a relaxed, social environment alongside their peers.

Across all three universities, these early-year activations shared a common goal: to ensure students feel connected not only to their university cohort, but to the broader profession they are entering.
Practical Support Through Loupes Evenings
A key highlight of ADAQ’s university engagement this year has been attending Loupes Evenings at UQ, Griffith, and JCU. While these sessions centred around giving students hands-on exposure to an important clinical investment, they also provided a valuable opportunity for ADAQ to connect directly with students, answer questions, and have meaningful conversations about the transition into practice.
These events reflect ADAQ’s broader approach: combining practical value with professional insight to ensure students feel confident and well-prepared for what lies ahead.

Supporting the Transition: Focus on Final-Year Students
As the academic year progresses into its second half, ADAQ’s focus naturally shifts toward supporting fourth and fifth-year students as they approach graduation and entry into practice. This is a critical period where questions around Ahpra registration, professional indemnity insurance, and compliance requirements come into sharp focus.
Recognising the complexity of this transition, ADAQ is committed to providing clear, accessible guidance to ensure students feel confident navigating these next steps. Many students are balancing clinical requirements, exams, and job applications, making it more important than ever that reliable information and support are readily available.
Looking Ahead: Preparing for Practice
To further support final-year students, ADAQ will be rolling out a series of free events and webinars in the coming months, specifically designed to address the practical realities of entering the profession.
These sessions will cover key areas such as registration requirements, viva exam preparations, and early career expectations, offering students the opportunity to gain clarity, ask questions, and learn from experienced professionals. Importantly, they will also provide a platform for students to connect with ADAQ in a more structured and supportive environment as they prepare for life after university.
This initiative builds on the success of earlier engagement efforts and reflects ADAQ’s ongoing commitment to supporting members at every stage of their career journey, particularly during pivotal transition points.
A Continued Commitment to Students

From Orientation and Market Days to Loupes Evenings and upcoming graduate preparation sessions, ADAQ’s presence across UQ, Griffith, and JCU highlights a clear and consistent focus: building strong, lasting relationships with students well before they enter the profession.
These engagements are more than individual events. They represent a broader strategy to ensure students feel supported, informed, and connected, not only during their university years, but as they transition into practice and beyond.
As ADAQ looks ahead, this commitment remains central. By continuing to meet students where they are, listen to their needs, and provide meaningful support, the Association is helping to shape a confident, capable, and well-prepared next generation of dental professionals in Queensland.
More Than Insurance: Why ADAQ Professional Indemnity Cover Supports More Than Your Practice
Professional indemnity insurance is an essential part of practising dentistry, but not all cover offers the same level of professional support. With ADAQ, your insurance goes beyond simply meeting registration requirements, it connects you to the support, expertise, and advocacy of Queensland’s professional dental association.
Designed specifically for dentists, ADAQ’s professional indemnity insurance offers competitively priced premiums while delivering value back to members in meaningful ways. Because returns are reinvested into member services and advocacy initiatives, your policy helps strengthen the profession while supporting lower membership fees and expanded benefits for the wider dental community.
Importantly, insurance through ADAQ also means access to people who understand the realities of clinical practice. Members insured with ADAQ receive priority access to the Compliance and Advisory Services Team, experienced professionals who can provide guidance on professional obligations, assist with navigating challenging situations, and support members through the claims process when needed. Having access to trusted advice from a team that understands dentistry can make a significant difference when managing complex or stressful matters.
To make cover more manageable, ADAQ also offers a convenient monthly payment option through Arteva Funding, allowing members to spread the cost of their indemnity insurance across the year rather than paying a large upfront premium.

ADAQ’s insurance offering is delivered in partnership with trusted industry providers PSC Mediprotect and AIG, combining comprehensive cover with experienced claims management support and the reassurance of established insurers backing your policy.
For dentists, professional indemnity insurance is more than a compliance requirement. It is protection for your career, reputation, and future. With ADAQ, it is also an investment in a professional community that is committed to supporting dentists at every stage of practice.
